Traffic Calming

Speeding and jumping stop signs at intersections are our biggest traffic issues.
Cars on George, Edward and the Sydenham avenues are often speeding. In the avenues the sidewalk is very narrow, with high property walls, obstructing the view of cars approaching the stop sign in the cross streets, yet the drivers often want to roll through the stop sign and then accidents happen. We have had a number of accidents in the area, mostly involving non residents. However, we caution our residents to drive safely and take due care at these many risky spots.

We have managed to have the intersection of Dunnotar and 9th Ave converted from a 2-way stop to a 4-ways stop and this has drastically reduced accidents on this intersection.

Another hotspot is the Hathorn/Kinfauns/Viljoen intersection. It is a dangerous spot with regular accidents
