Join the Telegram Groups
Sydenham and Sandringham Residents Association Johannesburg (SRAJ) runs a number of Telegram groups to allow easy and focused communication between residents of our suburb. We expanded to include Ward, CPF and Sector Telegram groups
Telegram is a mobile and desktop application very similar to Whatsapp, but provides more features than Whatsapp (group sizes up to 100000 vs 256 on whatsapp, and importantly the ability for us to moderate users and inappropriate content.)
Only Sydenham and Sandringham, Johannesburg residents are allowed to join the Telegram groups, and the administrators have the right to request validation information from members and those who do not comply with the validation request can be removed from the groups at the discretion of the administrators.
The exception to this rule is the Sydenham/Sandringham Emergency group, where our security providers, SAPS, JMPD, CPF, medical response services, and persons directly involved with residents (e.g. grandparents, children, domestic workers, au-pairs, etc) may also be members.

Once installed the Telegram system verifies your cell number. Once in Telegram access the Settings and assign yourself a @username and a profile picture.
Now tap on the links below to join the various groups. The group will open in Telegram, Tap Join at the bottom

Group descriptions:
1. EMERGENCY ALERT SRAJ - For Emergencies only, this joint group is monitored by CAP, CPF, Ambulance Services and SAPS.
2. SRAJ Residents - Sydenham and Sandringham specific discussions impacting SRAJ residents (security, power outages, SRAJ events, issues,etc)
3. SRAJ Chat - General chatter about any Sydenham and Sandringham topic
4. SRAJ Market - advertising, recommendations, etc. Note that no advertising is allowed on the other groups, and will be deleted without notice
5. SRAJ Street Captains - Street Captains are volunteers who get to know residents on their street, communicate closely with them and deal with issues relating to their street.
6. Sandringham CPF - Information and discussion regarding SCPF functions and issues at hand Please check on bit.ly/JHBAreas to see if you fall within the Sandringham CPF area
7. Norwood CPF Sector 4 -- Information and discussion regarding NCPF functions and issues at hand Please check on bit.ly/JHBAreas to see if you fall within the Norwood CPF Sector 4 area

9. Ward 72 JHB - Johannesburg Ward 72 discussions, open to ALL residents of Ward 72. A service delivery, rather than politically driven group
